I see every vehicle as part of our history, designed with style in mind and seeing us into the future. I endeavor to capture these images and put them to print for fellow enthusiasts to display in their own style with satisfaction guaranteed.

Pick-ups are all the rage among hot rodders these days and the older they look, the cooler they are. The pick-up truck was never designed to be pretty as they are predominately workhorses and need to be tough to handle the daily grind of knocks and scrapes. Having said that, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and when modified, make great rods giving the builder many options as to how they want the finished vehicle to look. Read More →
One of the many ways to celebrate Australia Day in Geelong was to get your ride out and go for a cruise! This time, over one hundred tough and cool rides gathered at the Cotton On carpark in Seperation st, North Geelong before heading down the coast to the St. Leonards Hotel for a bite to eat, a cool drink and a catch up with friends. The cruise passed through the quiet country town of Drysdale which didn’t know what hit them as classics and modified rides headed through the main street before turning off in one of two directions towards the destination point.
Last weekend saw me pack up the Chev and head to the small country town of Colac located South West of Geelong along the Princes Hwy. This weekend event is put on by the dedicated team of the Colac Custom Car and Bike Show committee. Each year they prepare for the onslaught of modified rides and their owners by ensuring all who attend are well entertained and catered for!
Larry Watson was one of the central figures of custom car building in LA during the 1950s. He was a trailblazer of custom paint trends, techniques and tricks. His name is synonymous with candys, pearls and metal flake along with some of the brightest paint jobs seen due to his colour mixing talents. To this day, various styles of custom paint work are still referred to as Larry Watson Scallops, Larry Watson Panel Jobs or Watson flames. His unique style is held in high esteem throughout custom car lore and can be seen adorning custom rides today. Dennis Jones’s 1959 Ford Fairlane is one such car that pays homage to this avant-garde customiser of the past.
Every town has its hot spot; the place where like minded people gather, to chat about the latest issues related to their preferred vocation or just to catch up with mates! For the automotive minded in
The small country town of Drysdale, located along the peninsula was inundated with another huge turnout of classic cars, bikes and other motorised machinery today at the Drysdale reserve for the Drysdale Classic car show! Great to see the numerous clubs including
Dave Mills is one of your old school drag racers, keeping the tradition alive of racing old school motors in period correct drag cars. But don’t underestimate these guys, they’ll leave you in a cloud of smoke sitting at the Christmas tree with their high horsepower, naturally aspirated 409s pushing out in excess of 800hp! These lost middle childs of the Chev engines have a loyal following in a niche market of old school horsepower production!
It’s a cool look seeing a rod or classic cruising down the highway and it’s even cooler when the fairer sex of our species is behind the wheel, wind in the hair and a pair of cool shades on! To add to the coolness, Tara has just turned 18 and, while most of her friends are hunting down the plastic fantastic for their choice of ride, it’s refreshing to see some Gen Yers still have an appreciation for the old school rides. Tara is the owner of this super cool 54 Chevy pickup built and customized by her Dad, Lindsay Trevaskis and, as she is studying journalism, I thought who better to tell the story of this ex workhorse come hot rod but the proud owner herself. Take it away Tara.
Once again the city of Geelong came alive with the reverberations of classic engines revving up Ritchie Boulevard surrounded by the vibrant colours of a street festival in all its glory. Classic cars and bikes gleamed in the hot sun accompanied with the vibrant early fashions of this motoring antiquity. The two day event sees likeminded motor enthusiasts test their mettle against the clock as they power down the eight mile strip flanked by picturesque seaside palms and grassy banks lending themselves well to those looking for a great viewing vantage point throughout the day’s proceedings.
