What’s a cat to do when he looks out the window on a cold bleak Sunday morning watching grey skies roll in threatening to ruin his day before it even begins? Stay under the covers? Turn up the heater? No way man! Get outta bed, get ya cat clothes on, grab ya main squeeze and find the best joint that’s jumpin in town and anyone who’s had anything to do with Kingpin Kuztums know those guys know how to put on a swinging, rockin event that’ll get ya hot all the way through!

February heat and the Kingpin of Kuztums!
Remember when a hot barmy night on the weekend left you with little else to do but jump in your hopped up ride, wind down the windows or pull the top back and go cruisin down Main street just to get the air circulating around you while taking in the amber lit streets of town as chrome barred classics, low riding customs and souped up rods casually ambled past you with the same intent as you, taking in the bright work and polished paint reflecting the surrounding cityscape across those vivacious metal curves in a kaleidoscope of coloured lights? We do too and Saturday night, unbeknown to Rob and Lam when setting the date was going to be one of those nights! Hot, barmy and great to be out and about! Read More →
Rodding & rockabilly: two scenes blending, one place!
This year’s Australia Day celebrations were made more memorable for Australia’s hot rodding community with the celebration of the Royal Exhibition Building’s longest running exhibit, the Victorian Hot Rod Associations’ hot rod show. This year marked the 50th anniversary of the Victorian Hot Rod show and was celebrated by many of Australia’s motoring enthusiasts by attending the four day event.
Once again the historic and picturesque Royal Exhibition Building located next to the leafy Carlton gardens played host to some of Australia’s top rods and rides displayed in all their glory, pristine and polished and surrounded by decorative displays and lighting. Thousands of doting fans of this popular vocation took the opportunity to spend part of their Australia Day long weekend at the show and take in the visually stimulating sights and sounds of our favourite hobby. A rock n roll Christmas!
With Christmas just around the corner, tis the season to hold a Christmas party and I can’t think of anyone who would hold a better nostalgic tinsel laden celebration than Rob and Lam of Kingpin Kuztums! Anyone who has been lucky enough to have taken part in one of their rockabilly events in the past know these guys don’t do things by halves and this was no exception! No two parties are ever the same as Rob and his team likes to mix it up a bit when it comes to choosing the venues. We’ve seen everything from a mix of retail/ street party close to Melbourne’s CBD to an industrial warehouse filled with cool customs and rockin bands!
Once again Rob and Lam switched it up by choosing to hold their Christmas party in a basement of a multi-story carpark in the trendy yet artistic suburb of St. Kilda while also occupying numerous levels of the carpark for cool custom parking. The basement gave the party that underground, “too cool to be in the limelight” feel about it, giving those attending that feeling of being connected to a unique scene not known to the general public. Are you Vegas enough?
This was the question put to us leading up to the event and, by the look of the turnout, I guess many people said “YES!” KingPin Kuztums in conjunction with Melbourne Old School Cruisers were the combined force behind this indoor/ outdoor rockabilly come car show inspired event!
Although the start time was 11am, perfect for a Sunday morning, many fired up early with their cool custom rides and classic muscle cars and headed out to Dandenong South to grab a park and a coffee and take in the sights and sounds old school V8s and classic sixes rocking up for the jaunt!
