This was the question put to us leading up to the event and, by the look of the turnout, I guess many people said “YES!” KingPin Kuztums in conjunction with Melbourne Old School Cruisers were the combined force behind this indoor/ outdoor rockabilly come car show inspired event!
Although the start time was 11am, perfect for a Sunday morning, many fired up early with their cool custom rides and classic muscle cars and headed out to Dandenong South to grab a park and a coffee and take in the sights and sounds old school V8s and classic sixes rocking up for the jaunt!

Lined up inside the one acre industrial shed were all the classics as automotive inspired fans perused amongst the gleaming metal, classic chrome bumpers and suede custom paint as the rockabilly bands fired up adding a rhythm and blues atmosphere. Girls had the opportunity to be dolled up by the Lipstick Dolls while guys could get their do done courtesy of the Northern Barber Shop. Other trade stands were on site too with their eclectic range of all things rockabilly while Penrite Oils stocked up for the motor heads!
The classic rides came and went all day, finding parks in the street or side car parks creating pockets of mini car shows in themselves, adding to the adventure of going for a wander and seeing what was around the corner. The energetic vibrancy in the street acted like a magnet to the uninitiated whose curiosity got the better of them as they stopped to check out what it was all about!
For those of us who frequent the ever growing scene, it was a great opportunity to catch up with friends and fellow auto enthusiasts as we chatted all things custom and cruising. It’s always great to see strength in numbers in a vocation many of us pursue, guaranteeing its survival for many years to come. This was KingPin Kuztums and Melbourne Old School Cruisers first combined event proving to one and all they have the mettle and growing experience to run a show of this magnitude while cementing their name in the Australian car show scene as a must-see experience. Jump on either of their sites, stay in touch because there’s another one in the pipeline but mum’s the word at the moment! Stay tuned!
Keep on cruising,
Cheers,
Greg
