This year saw one of the wettest starts in the Colac custom car and bike show’s 17 year history thanks to a low situated right over Colac itself! No one ordered it but it came anyway! All it achieved for the car show was a late start seeing automotive enthusiasts hold off their early morning cruise down the Princes highway for an hour or so. By 11am, the park was filling nicely.
I was shoot for a vendor this weekend so my time spent wandering amongst the cool cars and bad-ass bikes was limited but I whipped around and grabbed a few pics of what caught my eye. I’m sure I missed a few treasures buried among the leafy park-lands of the Colac Memorial square. Read More →

Colac custom car and bike show 2013
Well, once again the guys and girls of the Colac custom car and bike show organisation have turned on a fantastic weekend starting with Friday night’s drive-in movie, The Blues Brothers , Saturday’s show n shine seeing around 500 cars and bikes attend and Sunday’s cruise to Inverleigh!
Memorial Square located centrally in Colac lends itself perfectly as a family friendly setting for such a show with participants coming from as far as Melbourne and far west Victoria. The variety of vehicles and bikes on show is astounding from classic vintage, custom, street/strip, late model and just plain wild! There was even a top fuel rail on show with fire up demonstrations drowning out the live band temporarily while drawing a large crowd!
Trade stands filled the outer edge of the square while food and beverages could be found courtesy of the local Lions club tent and other assorted venues. Sit down meals were easily located just outside the show at a number of pubs and eateries.
Sunday saw a more relaxed atmosphere with breakfast at the local RSL and then a leisurely cruise to the quiet country pub located in Inverleigh allowing Geelong/ Melbourne participants the chance of meeting some of the sociable Colac crew while heading in the right direction for home.
This is just a short selection of what was on show and was going on in the scenic country town of Colac over the weekend. Watch this space for more pics, a DVD slideshow and write-up on this spectacular event!
Cheers,
Greg
Colac custom car and bike show weekend 2012
The Colac car show is an annual event that runs over a full weekend from the 13th to the 15th of January every year and each year it gets bigger and bigger! Friday night was drive-in night with a classic car related movie up on the big screen. Saturday is a massive day with cars and bikes on show in the picturesque Memorial square in the town center showcasing a wide variety of custom and classic cars, rods, bikes and other machines. A great live band, The Dropjaws had the music going all day with plenty of trade stands surrounding the outer as they do every year. Each year the quality of cars increases seeing it necessary to arrive early to get a parking spot. The entertainment doesn’t finish there as the boys from the Colac Custom Car and Bike Committee put on live music at a local night spot just for those who wish to keep partying! Come Sunday, the pace slows down to a leisurely cruise to a country pub in the surrounding area, this time seeing the cruise head down the highway to the Moriac pub which was handy for those who were heading in the Melbourne direction anyway. This event will continue to grow each year as it has for the last decade and is well worth marking down in your calendar. Check out the pics and we hope to see you there next year!
