Show Cars of Melbourne car show 2012

The inaugural indoor/ outdoor car and bike show put on by the team at Show Cars of Melbourne held at the Westgate sports center was the place to be today! The quality of rides on display was on par with many well established indoor car shows guaranteeing its success for many years to come.

The diversity of automotive art on show covered all genres from tough American and Australian iron, hot rods, classics, late model rides and even some beautifully restored European classics to boot. Not to be left out, Harley riders brought along their classics and customs with a few other brands thrown in for variety. The punters came in their droves throughout the day taking in all on show including the trade stands. The judges would have had their work cut out for them when it came to deciding who wins what! Keep this one in mind next year as a great all weather show and we’ll see you there!

Mark’s Dodge Super Bee

We recently had the pleasure of photographing Mark’s 1970 Dodge Super Bee after he purchased a half day package off us. We organised a suitable time and place and shot in a number of locations in that area. As Mark was familiar with the area, we were able to access some great spots to shoot his classic piece of American iron.

This selection of pics are just a sample of what Mark gets to choose from while most of the 200 images will be set on a DVD slideshow set to his choice of music as a visual reminder of his day.

Mark also upgraded his package to include an acrylic panel which will look fantastic hanging up on the wall!

Melbourne Motormania Day 2

Day 2 of Melbourne Motormania turned out to be a much more pleasant experience as Mother Nature decided to play fair and grant us some much sort after sunshine. While numbers may have been down on last years’ turn-out, the quality of classic American iron on display certainly didn’t disappoint! Showing everything from an old funeral hearse circa 1920s to American muscle cars from the 70s and everything in between, the Docklands waterfront was awash with colour as the enthusiastic crowd strolled through taking in the automotive spectacle. Once again, Gary and thDay 2 of Melbourne Motormania turned out to be a much more pleasant experience as Mother Nature decided to play fair and grant us some much e team from the Lincoln- Mercury car club put on an impeccable show seeing all who participated arrive and leave without drama. As I stated in Saturday’s write up, this event would make a great excuse to spend a weekend inMelbourneso mark it in your calendar, book some accommodation and if you’ve got classic tucked away, bring it along for all to enjoy!

Melbourne Motormania, day 1, 2012

Wet, wet, wet is the condition that greeted the diehard car fanatics for this festivity. The event is put on by the dedicated guys and girls of the Lincoln- Mercury car club and they do a fantastic job every year. While many stayed hidden in the comfort of their homes, and they may have been the smart ones, a few braved the elements determined not to be sidelined by the constant rain that fell onMelbournethroughout the day. I, myself decided to brave these conditions as the temptation of photographing the combination of architectural design of the Docklands and its surrounding restaurants mixed with the classic lines of the automotive art of the past combined with the gloomy yet reflective elements that can be created by such weather got the better of me. I ventured out with camera in one hand an umbrella in the other and found all possible vantage points to capture what I hope can be described as visual art for the eye.

Gary and the team are determined to keep this show going and growing each year, rain, hail (hope never!) or shine to be as successful as their Sunday event held the next day which sees the Docklands foreshore filled beyond capacity with classic American iron in all its glory. It’s free for the public so why not attend both days and make a weekend of it!

Geelong All Holden Day, 2012

The Geelong All Holden Day put on by the FX- HZ Holden car club ofGeelongis fast becoming the foremost Holden based show to take your Aussie ride to as could be testified today. With other Holden brand shows regretfully being cancelled or postponed, this one continues on each year despite having to deal with a Victorian summer. Today was no exception with the elements threatening to put a dampener on the proceedings yet highly detailed cars were still driven through the driving rain and grime to take part in this event. While the varieties of classic to modern Holdens take center stage, there is plenty of other action to be found around the Geelong Showgrounds with trade stands, a demonstration from the SES where they conveniently cut up a Ford much to the delight of the Holden biased crowd and food stands to satisfy that other hunger. With plenty of room to expand, this show could well become the quintesensual Holden based show along the Eastern seaboard. Mark it in your calendar, dust off that classic Aussie icon in the garage and see you there next year!

Torquay motor show 2012

The Rotary club of Torquay is responsible for putting on the Torquay motor show held every year along the picturesque Victorian foreshore. This event was scheduled for late last year but Mother Nature wouldn’t have a bar of that and decided to rain all weekend thus seeing the event postponed. She tried it again this weekend but ran out of puff much to the delight of the organizers, car owners and punters alike. The event started off quiet but as word spread, more people bought out their pride and joys for an excuse to drive to the coast and show them off. The variety of makes, models and styles of vehicles on show always amazes me with everything from vintage rarity to the latest super cars.

To add to the atmosphere, rock ‘n roll dancers showed off their moves to the sounds of classic and modern rock while a diverse number of trade and food stands were on site for those necessary extras. Time (and good weather) will see this event grow in statue as a major show for your calendar, mark it down for next year, check the radar and we’ll see you there!

Queenscliff rod run 2012

This weekend saw the annual Queenscliff rod run put on by the Geelong Street Rodders. A huge turn-out of rods, customs and classics filledPrincessParkin Queenscliff by the foreshore for the show n’ shine part of the weekend. In a typical Victorian summer, the weather managed to brew up a storm threatening to ruin everyone’s day but the punters were undeterred and stayed on to enjoy all that Queenscliff and the Geelong Street Rodders put on including live music, a vast array of trade stands and food stands.

This event continues to grow due to the professionalism of the club as well as the scenic beauty of Queenscliff itself. Check this one out for next year and you’re guaranteed to have yourself a great weekend!

Australia day cruise, Geelong, 2012

Australia Day inGeelonghas many activities organized by the various groups found throughoutGeelongbut the best one to attend is the Australia Day cruise held by….well, no one’s really sure! This event started ten years ago and continues to grow bigger every year as the word spreads and this year saw a fantastic number of cars and bikes fill theSt. Helenscar park beyond capacity! Cars came as far as the other side ofMelbourneto participate in this annual event which celebrates one of the many things that make us Aussies.

After checking out the cool rides and catching up with friends, the convoy of cars and bikes heads off for Portarlington, down on the Peninsular. After a short rest, be it at a pub or pie shop, the laid-back cruise makes its way along the foreshore to Queenscliff for another large and impromptu show of cars and bikes with a bite to eat in the main street. So if your Australia Day is lacking that injection of automotive stimulation, then mark this one down in your calendar for next year and get there early as parking will fill quick!

Colac custom car and bike show weekend 2012

The Colac car show is an annual event that runs over a full weekend from the 13^th to the 15^th of January every year and each year it gets bigger and bigger! Friday night was drive-in night with a classic car related movie up on the big screen. Saturday is a massive day with cars and bikes on show in the picturesque Memorial square in the town center showcasing a wide variety of custom and classic cars, rods, bikes and other machines. A great live band, The Dropjaws had the music going all day with plenty of trade stands surrounding the outer as they do every year. Each year the quality of cars increases seeing it necessary to arrive early to get a parking spot. The entertainment doesn’t finish there as the boys from the Colac Custom Car and Bike Committee put on live music at a local night spot just for those who wish to keep partying! Come Sunday, the pace slows down to a leisurely cruise to a country pub in the surrounding area, this time seeing the cruise head down the highway to the Moriac pub which was handy for those who were heading in the Melbourne direction anyway. This event will continue to grow each year as it has for the last decade and is well worth marking down in your calendar. Check out the pics and we hope to see you there next year!

Buninyong car and bike show 2011

The Crown Hotel at Buninyong was the setting for the 2 annual car show held today with a good turn-out considering the skies looked threatening all day with the sun making a brief appearance to through some much needed warmth over the show. The variety of rides on show, which included cars and bikes, varied widely from the latest Sandman panelvan to a rare Barnes Special 3 wheeler. A live 3 piece band kept the tunes rolling throughout the day and a great lunch could be had at the pub. As usual, see you all there next year!
