On our auto inflated trip in the USA, we came across a small chop shop owned by a cool guy named Matt. Matt owns Sled Alley, a small but impressive panel shop in Detroit where a modified car fanatic can go and get his or her ride slammed, smoothed, chopped and painted. He’ll even do a major engine/ driveline transplant just to guarantee you’re smoking the rears as you leave!
The majority of the rides he had on the go were Camaros at a variety of stages. One 69 Camaro looked like it’d seen better days but, upon the owner’s request, that wasn’t changing. This patina finished muscle car was receiving some major internal mods including a wild donk with matching driveline pushing out some serious horse power. The only give away to the guy on the street would be the low stance and wheels she’ll have!
Another Camaro of the same vintage was heading down the high tech path. It had carbon fiber panels bolted to it while again a seriously wild drive line was gonna make sure the power to weight ratio was enough for even fearless riders were gonna be clenching the rears!
Matt doesn’t just work with the classics and this was testimonial by the wild work done on an SUV and his own extended cab GMC shop truck. Airbagged suspension bolted to stepped up chassis gave both rides bottom scraping stances while custom work at both ends ensured they would stand out in a crowd.
Me and the guys would like to thank Matt for his hospitality and hope to be able to catch up again sometime. Keep an eye out for his work and if you happen to buy yourself a new ride in his neighbourhood, why not swing it past for the Sled Alley treatment! You’ll be blown away!
Keep on cruisin’
Cheers,
Greg
