The city of Detroit has had its fair share of kicks brought on by the fallout of the GFC yet in true style that typifies a hard knock city with a motoring history, has managed to pick itself up, dust itself off and host one of the biggest automotive celebrations on the planet!
On the third Saturday of August, more than 30,000 muscle cars, hot rods, custom and collector vehicles came together to take part in what is considered the world’s biggest cruise, The Woodward Dream Cruise. Covering the 31 mile stretch of eight lane highway from Motor city to Pontiac, Woodward boulevard sees car enthusiasts from all over the United States, Canada and internationally come together to recreate what used to take place here in its heyday, cruising the strip! As part of this cruise, The Ford Motor Company have joined forces with the suburb of Ferndale located at the 9 mile marker for the fifteenth annual Mustang Alley.
Over 800 classic, custom and late model Mustangs gather together to showcase this iconic and much loved muscle car. Ford contributed to the celebrations by bringing along its full line up of 2014 Mustangs and SVT cars. Included in this muscle bound line up was the 662 hp Ford Shelby GT 500 and 2014 Ford F-150 Tremor for all to see.

Not to be left out, Ford’s sporting partners Roush, MRT and Shelby American also had their latest acquisitions on display in preparation for the much anticipated 50th anniversary celebration of continuous production of the Mustang set to take place next year.
If you’re looking for an excuse to head to the States for a holiday and want to incorporate the automotive scene into it, I highly recommend to book it for August. Help celebrate Ford’s sexiest muscle car and take in Woodward’s automotive spectacle as part of it.
