Investing in something for the first time can be pretty nerve racking, not sure how it’s going to turn out and have you made all the right decisions! It might have worked for others but will it work for you? This is what the Cruzin Knights car club faced today as they embarked on their inaugural car and bike show held at Wyndham Vale. I arrived early, around 8:30 am and drove into the tree lined carpark on the edge of Presidents Park. Club cars occupied one end of the large parking area while non-club cars were parked in another section. It was all looking fairly quiet as whispers of a small event could be the order of the day.
But as the sun burned through the overcast skies, they started coming through the gate in their droves! Before the Knights new it, the car park was full and still the classic and custom cars kept coming! Sending them across the large open grass area flanked by numerous trade sites and out the back was the only solution. Club members were on hand to line them up in rows before having to head more cars and bikes further around wondering if the continuous procession of colour and chrome was ever going to end! The problem was now have the Cruzin Knights created an automotive festival bigger than they anticipated and will it ever end? I left at midday due to car issues and as I headed out the gate, they were still coming in!
With a live band pumping out the classics resonating across the grounds and the barbeques and food stalls running flat out for those looking for a bite to eat, many found a nice place to settle down for a rest after taking in this new juggernaut of an automotive show. The car park and surrounding lawns catered for all auto enthusiasts for high powered drag cars, street and strip through to the classics from your Aussie icon Monaros and GTs to the steadfast Yankee iron or all eras. Stock and custom bikes found their area filling out the remaining section of the car park showcasing the high standard of custom work accomplished by the various builders.
Congratulations must go out to the two hundred member strong club for executing a fantastically run show with no discernable hiccups and that’s a mighty achievement when it’s your first one! This one will go down as a must attend event and I’ll bet it’ll be the only quiet start they’ll see in the coming years!
Keep on cruisin’
Cheers,
Greg
