WARNING! This post may take time to upload but its worth it! Apologies for the watermarks.
Well, the Ultimate Burnout Challenge was on yesterday at Avalon Raceway and it certainly didn’t disappoint! $30,000 cash and prizes saw one of the most competitive fields on show, guaranteeing to give the punters their moneys worth. The weather was perfect for such an event with the right amount of breeze to move the smoke off the burnout pad but not enough to not challenge the entrants when it came to knowing which part of the pad they were on! Some must have been using their Sat Navs to negotiate their way around because the level of skill on show as they threw their blown and injected machines around could only be described as precision driving at its best.
Plenty of tires were destroyed, many rims and some engines too! These blokes (and girls) aren’t afraid to give it all they’ve got and it’s a testimony to the engine and drive line builders as the majority of highly worked donks, trannies and diffs stood up to the brutal punishment and came back for more!
This type of action is growing in popularity as more and more car fanatics see it as a great day out with everything a car fanatic could want; big dollar cars, big horsepower engines and bullet proof drive lines tested to their limit, its loud as hell with the aroma of alcohol fuel and burnt rubber filling the nostrils, pit access to watch ‘em work and plenty of trade stands to boot! They even included a show n shine for those who like to see the pristine machines of this craft.
A big congratulations must go to Steve Loader, Kylie Howard, Clint and Robyn Ogilvie and the rest of the UBC team for putting on a professional, safe and hassle free event and if you think you’ve got what it takes to win the big bucks, we’ll see you there next year for more engine screaming, tire frying action!
Keep on crusin’
G’day just wondering if you got any photos of my Gemini at ubc? Entrant #p39 COOLPV
